An editorial cartoon that was published in the Uniter Magazine. In March 2015 Winnipeg was under a 24–hour water boiling advisory. Although citizens were outraged, the episode raised public awareness regarding marginalized communities who have been under similar advisories for years, or even decades. One of the most notorious/ironic examples of this is the Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, a community located on a man–made island located in the Shoal Lake reservoir, Winnipeg’s primary water source. Water is pumped into the city and treated, while the reserve has been under a water boiling advisory for a decade and a half, and has been lobbying in vain for an all–season road.
